Dr. Saeed Ahmed M.D., P.A was a plastic/cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon who was dedicated to serving those in need of medical attention. Prior to his passing, he performed numerous reconstructive surgeries for facial deformities. His personal favorite was the corrective cleft lip and cleft palate surgery, which he regularly performed on infants and children.
What is a Cleft lip and Cleft palate?
Cleft lip and cleft palates are birth defects/malformations which take place during pregnancy in the womb. In cleft lip, there is an aperture, or opening, in the baby's upper lip. In cleft palate, there is an opening in the roof of the baby's mouth. Both cleft lip and cleft palate can occur on a baby's face simultaneously as well (aka cleft lip palate).
These deformities can cause:
-Trouble eating (food going up the baby's nose)
-Hearing loss
-Recurring ear infections
-Speech problems (nasally voice, stuttering)
-Difficulty breathing properly
-Extra or missing teeth
-Psychological trauma due to atypical facial features
Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate. However, not every family can afford the $240 corrective surgery. With your help, you can help Maryam Beg fulfill her Father's legacy of helping others by donating to Operation Smile (a surgical voluntary organization that travels internationally to provide medical attention to those with cleft lip and palate in non-affording countries) because after all, EVERY child deserves surgery and EVERY child deserves the right to smile.
Click the "DONATE NOW" button make a HUGE difference and to help me reach my goal of saving 10 children and then many more.
