Perspective Gained From The Emergency Room
On Sunday, November 8th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at H Street Country Club (http://www.hstreetcountryclub.com) a portion of the proceeds from mini-golf and bar will go Operation Smile. It will be a really fun time for a great cause with lots of people to meet and share your smile with. Please pass on to your friends so we can make this event as big as possible.
Why Operation Smile?
In the Summer of '08, I severed my lower lip while visiting a friend. As the ENT was methodically putting my lip back together, I thought how lucky I was to live in a country where at 3:00 am I was able to get safe, clean, quality medical treatment for about $100. I also started to worry what people at work would think, if my girlfriend would still want to kiss me, if I would talk differently for the rest of my life...and I got scared.
I realized I wanted to help children who were also feeling scared, insecure, and needing to express themselves verbally but struggling. I decided to see how I could help Operation Smile. Operation Smile travels to over 50 countries to perform surgeries for children born with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.
Getting back to normal has made me feel even more fortunate and want to give children the opportunity to realize their full potential with unaffected speech and unstoppable confidence.
If you cannot make it I hope that you will consider making a donation via the listed link below set up for this event. Each $240 raised allows a surgical team to bring out another child's smile.
Why H Street Country Club?
H Street Country Club is a relatively new, eclectic bar in the H Street Corridor. Put a smile on your face playing D.C.'s only indoor miniature golf course. There is also skeeball, shuffleboard, pool and great food and drinks.
Together, We Will Change Lives
Operation Smile mobilizes a world of generous hearts to heal children’s smiles and transform lives across the globe. Operation Smile’s network of volunteers works worldwide to repair childhood facial deformities including cleft lips and cleft palates.
I hope you'll help me bring hope to even more children and their communities.
