Whether you know me or not, challenging myself both physically and mentally has always been something I aspire to do everyday. I choose to take life's challenges head-on, and hope to help others along the way. Therefore, I want my next challenge to not only be something I can be proud of overcoming, but something that can also be impactful & put a smile on someone else's face.
On April 14th, I will be competing in the 2019 South Beach Triathlon and created this Smile Fund to help raise funds for Operation Smile, an organization that has always been very close to my heart. Operation Smile is an international medical charity that raises funds and awareness for children and young adults in developing countries who are born with cleft lips, cleft palates, or other dental/facial conditions that are in need of facial reconstructive surgeries.
I want to complete this Triathlon for them.
Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate – and many families can't afford the surgery they desperately need. In many places, children with cleft conditions are abandoned or abused. Many times they have trouble eating and drinking and can struggle to survive. Those that do can face a lifetime of shame and torment.
They need our help! For as little as $240 and in as few as 45 minutes, Operation Smile can provide life-changing surgery – and renewed hope – for children around the world.
Please consider making a donation today and help me spread more smiles around the world!
Forever grateful,
Sofia Guerra
