Tony Blackman Jr Salem Elementary School Representative
Most of you know me and my story but let's rewind for just a moment......My name is Tony Blackman Jr and I am almost 10 years old. I was born with a cleft lip and palete. I have had several surgeries to repair this facial deformaty. I thank God that I was born in America where there are doctors who are able to perform the surgeries that I have needed to get me where I am today!
There are many children in other countries that are born with this same birth defect that are not so lucky! This organization, Operation Smile provides these operations for these children. I am participating in the Operation Smile final mile and I need your help!
You might ask, What is this final mile? Operation Smile holds a marathon in March to raise money to support this program. A marathon is 26.2 miles and although I love to run, I am not able to run a marathon so I participate in the running club at Salem Elementary school. In this program I will run and the teachers will track the miles which will add up to 25.2 miles. Then on March 20, 2010 I will will run the final mile of the marathon at the VA Beach Ocean front.
Together, We Can Change Lives
Operation Smile mobilizes a world of generous hearts to heal children’s smiles and transform lives across the globe. Operation Smile’s network of volunteers works worldwide to repair childhood facial deformities including cleft lips and cleft palates.
I hope you'll help me bring hope and new smiles to children suffering from facial deformities.
With the help of you, my friends and family, last year I was able to raise almost enough money for 2 children to have this life changing surgery. Please help me raise $480, this will be enough money for 2 children to receive the surgery that they need to have a smile as great as mine!
