Dalton Bane, a 2013 American International School Chennai graduate, was taking the second semester of his sophomore college year off. During that time, Dalton attended the Ulead Conference hosted by AISC in Feb of 2015. He was so inspired and motivated by the work of Operation Smile, that he was determined to move to Guwahati and work for Operation Smile. Kim and Jason (his parents) had supported him in that dream. Dalton was a Certified Nursing Assistant, trained in the state of Colorado and was on the premed track. Dalton wanted to learn. He was responsible, adventurous, hardworking, and full of energy.
Unfortunately Dalton passed away on April 9, 2015. Less than one week before he was to arrive in Guwahati. He died having absolutely no idea how big of an impact he had on people and how truly loved he was. His death has completely rocked the entire school community back in Chennai.
Kim and Jason( Daltons parents) had asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Operation Smile (http://tinyurl.com/DaltonBane) in his memory.
They collected a good amount of donations and using that amount Operation Smile Student Programs introduced last year the Dalton Bane Memorial Award. This award is given to a students who truly deserves and mirrors all the qualities that Dalton had which includes being responsible, adventurous, hardworking, eager to learn, and full of energy.
Through this fundraising effort, we hope to preserve Dalton's spirit of service and provide other young people the opportunity to do the same with Operation Smile.
