Dr. Melissa Lowe

Dr. Melissa Lowe has been a pediatrician with Carolina Pediatrics of the Triad (formerly Wendover Pediatrics) since 1995. Originally from South Carolina, she graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina and Wofford College.
She is passionate about her work and is a strong advocate for all children. Helping an infant grow to become a self-reliant young adult is one of the greatest joys she experiences as a pediatrician.
Her greatest achievements are her three children, Matthew, Sarah and Lauren. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her children and friends, reading, yoga and planning her next do-it-yourself project. She often donates time to volunteering, fundraising and helping others.

“Seeing first-hand how cleft lip and cleft palate affects a child, I am honored to partner with Operation Smile and help raise funds and awareness about this common birth defect. Operation Smile can help give a new smile to a child and transform their life forever. Having the opportunity to make an insurmountable difference in a child’s life is very humbling and rewarding!”

About Operation Smile

Operation Smile is an international medical charity whose global network of thousands of credentialed medical volunteers from over 80 countries is committed to helping improve the health and lives of children from more than 60 countries. Since 1982, we've worked with local medical professionals, governments, hospitals and other NGOs to deliver the safest care to each of our patients, and have established care centers wherever possible to give children ongoing medical treatment.

Operation Smile continues to provide training and education for local medical professionals so they can provide care within their own communities and share their expertise. To date, we have provided more than 220,000 free surgeries for children born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.
