Dr. Mark Katz

Dr Mark Katz is an orthodontist in Greensboro. He provides pre and post-surgical orthodontic care for individuals with cleft lip and palate. Mark and his wife, Cathy are also avid ballroom dancers. They have participated in Dancing with the Carolina Stars a number of times, raising money and performing showcase dances.

This year, Mark is dedicating his dance to his wife, Cathy, who took a time-out from performance in order to care for her sister, Susan Rhodes. Cathy was Susan’s primary caregiver for the past 30 months as she battled stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Cathy exhibited incredible strength, compassion and love as she accompanied Susan through her brave battle with this terrible disease. Susan passed away peacefully last Thursday, January 31, 2019.

Mark is dancing with Alyssa Marie from Fred Astaire Dance Studio to Jennifer Lopez’s song “Dance Again.” This will be a cabaret type performance with different dance styles including Tango, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Quickstep and Samba, as well as theatrical lifts. Thank you for your thoughtful contributions to Operation Smile!

Operation Smile continues to provide training and education for local medical professionals so they can provide care within their own communities and share their expertise. To date, we have provided more than 220,000 free surgeries for children born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.
